We were very surprised to find a package arrive in class today. It was very exciting, as the postage label said it was from Egypt.
We talked about what the package might contain - we thought it might be from Mr Chrimbo or Doctor Binocular sending us some rocks from Egypt for us to study, but then we realised the box was too light.
Grace H shook the parcel to try and work it out, but all we could hear was some rustling. What could it be?
Then Miss Bailey asked us to be very very quiet so she could listen to the box and she heard some pecking noises. Lucy said she could hear them too. What was it?
Leo thought it might be an alligator, Tommy thought a Jack in the box and Owen thought it was a penguin...
Owen was right - a penguin had posted himself to us, but nobody knew why.
On closer inspection of the box's contents, we discovered a letter from Samuel the penguin. He is on a gap year and is travelling the world before he gets himself a job. He was last in Egypt and now he wants to see what England is like.
He also said that his friend Sunny the meerkat has been travelling. Sunny is famous and has a book written about him - Meerkat mail. Samuel was confused why Sunny has claws and he has flippers and asked us to find out. He is very bossy because he has got us all finding out loads of information about meerkats!!
