A Letter has Arrived

Mr Chrimbo has been in touch and thinks we are doing a fantastic job. He has even sent us our wages!

He liked our ideas and wants us to work hard to make them happen. Some of the things he asked us to work on included, decorations, Alfie's Magic Show and biscuits for the cafe.

The main task he has asked us to work on today has been an advertisement campaign for our shop. He sent us a link to a video of a Christmas advert that is on TV at the moment and has asked us to use t as inspiration for our own.

We have been planning our own adverts today. We started with our characters and have chosen two animals - one which hibernates and one which doesn't.

Then we planned our advert by creating a storyboard.

Christmas Store Hethersett

Last week, Miss Bailey received an email from Mark Chrimbo. Here it is...

Dear Miss Bailey,

I am emailing you to let you know of my intentions to open a brand new Christmas Store in Hethersett. As a teacher in the area I was hoping you would be able to provide me with information about where I might be able to find some keen, motivated individuals who would be able to assist me in opening a store before Christmas.

There is not long to go and I realise that deadlines are tight, but with the right staff I feel we could pull this one off and open in time for Christmas.

I have attached the job descriptions and an application form. Can you pass these onto anyone you think would be interested in this exciting new venture!

I look forward to your response,

Regards,
Mark Chrimbo CEO Christmas Corporation Limited

22 Sleigh Street
Rudolph Road
Norwich

We decided to apply - here are some of the application forms we completed.

The next thing we knew, we got the job!

Many thanks for the applications you sent me. I am delighted to tell you that I would like to offer you all the job you applied for. Congratulations! You are now an important staff member here at Christmas Corporation Limited. I have attached a contract for you to sign. You will start employment straight away with us. Unfortunately we are unable to pay you as you are only young, but I will make sure we send some chocolate your way in the post very soon to keep your energy levels up!

Now then - down to business - as our only employees in Hethersett, it is now down to you to put your heads together and think about the store we will be opening.

Christmas is our theme - so think mince pies, Christmas decorations and hot chocolates! Your first task is to get your thinking hats on and let me know your ideas for our business.
What should we sell in the shop?
What should we serve in the cafe?
What should our store look like - do you think decorations are important?

Let me know - it's probably best to write your ideas down in a letter.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards,
Mark Chrimbo

Now it was time to really get started. We have lots of work ahead of us. First, we decided to write our ideas in a letter and send them to Mark Chrimbo. Here are some of our letters we wrote.

We posted them to Mr Chrimbo and can't wait to hear back from him!

'Patterns are everywhere!'

We've been on a hunt for pattern. After the success of looking at textures in art we are now looking at pattern. We started our work by going on a pattern hunt. Here are some of the patterns we have spotted.

We discovered that patterns are everywhere!

3VB becoming expert bloggers

3vb are learning how to become expert bloggers. We have been learning how to write comments about the posts on here. Well done if you have managed to comment.
Good news! You no longer need a Google account to leave us a comment - anyone can do it! Just click on `Anonymous`. Remember though, your comment may take a few hours to appear online because Miss Bailey likes to check them all first before she clicks the button to let the world see them. Happy blogging everyone!

Textured Creations

Did you know?...
The Great Sphinx of Giza was carved in 2500BC and is a whopping 20m high!
As part of our art lessons this half term we have been busy learning about and experimenting with textures. Last week we created Sphinx collages from rubbings of textures and also learned about The Great Sphinx of Giza at the same time. The Egyptians built sphinx statues to guard important areas such as tombs and temples.

Take a look at our funky Sphinx creations.

Today we had our first lesson in the art room and created some brilliant clay tiles. We experimented with creating textures by using a range of different tools, from forks, spoons and knive, to wire and wooden sticks. We had great fun and had very messy hands!

Welcome to our page! We are the new lot at Hethersett Junior School and we have been very busy settling into our new class.
We like to work hard, learn lots and most of all enjoy ourselves! We like to think we are a pretty brilliant bunch and like to follow the advice of 'The Pig of Happiness' for a happy time in school together. Check out his story here and pass it on!
